I like the adaption of a classic question for pandemic safety.
I’m going to assume you mean celebrity scientist because honestly most of the BBQs I have are all scientists that are also my friends.

I think I’d have Marie Curie and Maria Goeppert Mayer who were both foundational in my field of nuclear physics, and the first 2 women to win the Physics Nobel Prize.
And I’d probably have Richard Feynman working the grill, he has a lot of anecdotes but was a bit full of himself.

The obvious answer would be my friends, since most of them are scientists as well.
Other than them, I think it would be interesting to get a good spread of people from different times, to see what they think of each others’ work and how it’s all used in the modern world. Galileo, Newton, Lavoisier, Faraday and Einstein all in the same place would lead to some very interesting conversations.

I’d probably invite Alfred Wallace who was a naturalist who actually came up with the idea of evolution/natural selection before Charles Darwin (but didn’t publish it first!)/Darwin might have stolen the idea from. Id probably also invite Darwin too just for the drama!

Aside from those two I’d also invite a chap called Christian Bohr who was a danish physiologist in the early 20th century who discovered a phenomenon of blood called the Bohr shift which I work quite closely with today.

I’d also love to work with the Irwins on their Croc research in Australia so I’d invite them too to see if I could schmooze a job from them!

Jane Goodall and David Attenborough would also be an amazing pair to talk to!
