As an undergraduate student, I was motivated to participate in research as a way to contribute to solutions for the climate change crisis. Finding ways of addressing energy needs using greener sources has been a recurring interest of mine. I’m also inspired to do research because of the fundamental puzzles of chemistry and physics that define how materials work. In hindsight, I’ve done a lot of work in different systems understanding how liquids can modify how crystals grow. The route to getting into this research has sometimes been accidental, but I think curiosity about how to explain the unexpected when it comes to solids (materials) keeps me going.
