About Me:
I’m a scientist who also enjoys being outside (running and hiking) as well as music (playing the violin and singing) and baking for friends.
-
My Typical Day:
I try to get into the lab to make materials. The reactions take a long time (often several days) so there might be a reaction I can investigate to see whether I’ve made what I hoped to make. Sometimes I travel to do experiments in other labs and I collaborate with other scientists around the world. I also teach and enjoy enthusing students about science.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I’ve prepared some teaching resources about materials, and how they behave (some are a bit weird or surprising) and I’d like to make this an interactive online resource that could be used in schools and colleges – particularly since it’s more difficult to visit schools right now.
